34eme Césars Ceremonie: Monica presents an award!

Just a few hours later we give you some beautiful images of Ms. Bellucci, who hit the red carpet of the 34th César Awards ceremony on her husband Vincent Cassel’s side. She also took the stage in a beautiful Dior purple gown to present the award for Best Foreign Movie. Vincent was nominated (and won!) for Best Actor thanks to his brilliant performance as Jacques Mesrine in Jean-François Richet’s Mesrine, so congrats! During his speech, Vincent also had sweet words for his family, with tears in his eyes:
«I want to thank my family. Monica, and Deva – now go to sleep honey, i got [the award]»

Women’s World Awards 2009 to honor Ms. Bellucci

Ms. Bellucci is going to be honored at next Women’s World Awards as Actress of the year! The ceremony will take place in Vienna (Austria), on March 5th. Other actresses honored in the past years were Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, Catherine Deneuve, and Teri Hatcher – just to name a few. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope Monica will attend the big event!

La Riffa (a movie about a beautiful young widow from Bari’s high society who becomes a lottery price just to pay her dead husband’s debts) was Monica’s very first film and it was directed by Francesco Laudadio. Rebecca Miller talks about Monica

Unfortunately Monica did not attend Berlin Film Festival to promote the movie. During the press conference, director Rebecca Miller said about Ms. Bellucci:
I saw her at the Morocco Film Festival, and then I thought “My God, she’s Gigi.” So I actually wrote the script and her character thinking about her. I wasn’t sure she would accept, but she said yes.
There’s something about her that’s larger than life. She is sort of iconic. And she played the role very well, she perfectly knew how it had to be done. It was great to work with her, she is very sweet. A lovely woman.

“But I knew her from before, when she was a model and even today to me she’s just Monica, my brother’s wife. I don’t think of her as a diva. Our family life hasn’t changed since then, I mean our dinners, our reunions, our quarrels and problems are always the same. She’s my sister-in-law [she says it in Italian, 'cognata']. You know, family for you Italian people is very important, just as it is for us French people: you can imagine how important it can be when a French man marries an Italian woman.”
